4 Awesome Tips I Wish I Knew When I First Started Playing DC Universe Online!

No. 1 – THE BREAKTHROUGH MINI GAME.

This was shown to me a few years back, but only after having countless fails and money spent on Seals of preservation and Seals of Completion.  When you are about to breakthrough an artifact or augment,  you may have noticed a moving circle.  Timing the positioning of this circle to line up perfectly will result in a successful breakthrough.

Of course the lower the Success Chance percentage, the more you need to be accurate.  Consider this:  as the circle is moving and you want to align it, the percentage plays a factor on how perfect you need to be.  Keep note that lag is a factor that could prevent you from success which is why you should still use a Seal of Preservation for insurance.  I have a 3 strikes rule and then opt to use a Seal of Completion.

No. 2. – The WORKER BEE.

I found it helpful to use alts to farm catalysts and items for your main.  As long as the item is tradeable or account bount, Just keep putting those items in the shared bank for pickup later.  It gets a little dry, depending on how many alts you have but really a useful tool if you just joined the game finding out that you are behind years of seasonal episodes.  Alternatively, you can buy items, equip to get the feat and use replay badges to unlock it on your main.  Same concept for any episode – buy and funnel items like catalysts to your main.

No. 3 – GEAR CLEARANCE SALE.

Feats associated with completion of gear – (including leveling an OP piece or buying a complete set) will discount that gear if you were to buy it again.  A trick you can do is get the feat on one character, then unlock that feat on an alt, so your alt can buy the discounted gear.  This includes feats associated with completely leveling the OP piece or any Elite rings or neck.  NOTE: these feats are based on unlocking the style, the head style, chest style, hands, and so on. If you unlock all the pieces of that particular style, you get the feat. You can also obtain the latest gear fast using alts that are running the same content. You can buy some of the gear for that alt using the current marks, and the rest of the gear on your main, then unlock the styles the other character doesn’t have. After you obtain the feat, buy what you don’t have. As an added bonus, keep in mind that if you get the feat for completing the elite gear, the regular gear becomes discounted as well.

No. 4 – QUICK CHANGE ARTISTS.

This is for all those that don’t mind changing powers anytime.  A buddy of ours learned how to play all different roles, all different powers. Instead of painstakingly adding the skills and loadouts and re-imprinting to armories every time, he has armories specific to that power’s loadouts. So all he really has to do is use the power change token, then go to that armory and activate.  Just for added organization, he has bases called those powers and only those armories are in there.  Fire Base, Ice Base, etc…Note though – currently there is a max of 16 armories per character.

And there you have it. 4 things I wish I knew when I started playing DCUO. There are definitely more tips out there to share, but these seem to be the ones that stood out for me. I hope this helps anyone out there.

Let me know if you like any of these or already knew about these. I would also like to know if you have any other tips to share. Thanks for reading…. Knife Edge out.
